The Lefors Pirates are looking to continue the momentum after qualifying for the playoffs for the third straight year last season.

Lefors fell to Silverton in a foggy state quarterfinal, 70-62, but the experience should serve as motivation. Seniors Keenan Lott and Trever Czubinski are set to lead the team through a tough district that includes playoff qualifier Groom.

The Pirates seem to be settling into a groove under fifth-year coach Joey Czubinski.

What Coach Czubinski Says: “We lost a great senior class after an ideal historic state quarterfinal season. This year’s seniors know the responsibility they have to make it to the playoffs four years in a row.”

Keys To Success: Lefors’ success will depend on the abilities of quarterback Keenan Lott, who completed 129-of-234 passes for 2,279 yards and 54 touchdowns last season. He also rushed 106 times for 1,154 yards and 16 touchdowns, accounting for 70 of the Pirates’ 95 offensive touchdowns. If the offensive star from last season can repeat his success, it should be another strong season for Lefors.
