Former Class 2A member West Texas High will play its second season in what many call the toughest Class 1A district in the state — 1-1A.

It features state champions Canadian (Division I) and Stratford (Division II), and again the Comanches must find a way to beat either Sunray or Gruver to reach postseason play for the first time in seven years.

Wide receiver Stetson Hunter, quarterback Logan Hoff and running back Terrance Bonds are among the top players returning on an offense that features seven returning starters.

A nondistrict schedule that includes four District 2-2A teams should tell the Comanches where they are heading into the tough district slate.
